Dr. Bartel joined Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute in 1996, specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Bartel received his undergraduate degree from North Central College and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
He served his primary residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Metropolitan Northwest Detroit Hospitals. Dr. Bartel was awarded a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society's Young Physicians Council, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Kane County Medical Society.
Dr. Bartel specializes in treatments for the lower extremities and is an avid runner and cyclist.
He is a member of the medical staff at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva and Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Dr. Bartel has written articles on foot disorders and treatments: "If The Shoe Fits....." and "Don't Let Heel Pain Slow You Down." He also lectures in the community on his orthopaedic specialties.
