Joining the Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute in 1991, Dr. Ketterling's area of expertise is Sports Medicine.
He received both his undergraduate and medical degree with honors from Northwestern University and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1990. Following that he was awarded a Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He served as Assistant Team Physician to the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds professional sports teams during their 1990-1991 seasons.
As a specialist in Sports Medicine, Dr. Ketterling serves as Team Physician for the Kane County Cougars and St. Charles High School.
He is also a member of the medical staff at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva and Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Medical Association, and the Illinois State Medical Society.
Dr. Ketterling is a frequent contributor of articles on Sports Medicine and sports injuries, to both the medical community and to the press. He is the author of several journal articles on Sports Medicine. An athlete himself, he competes in triathlons, plays soccer and skis.
