Laura Marie Lemke, M.D. joined Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute in 2002.
After graduating with an honors degree in biochemistry from Brown University in Providence, RI, Dr. Lemke earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University in Springfield. Her surgical training for both internship and orthopaedic residency were also at Southern Illinois University. Dr. Lemke completed her training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Children’s Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Lemke practices general orthopaedics, while specifically focusing on pediatric orthopaedics, the unique problems that children encounter and the great rewards in caring for them. Dr. Lemke’s interest in orthopaedics stems from her athletic endeavors. When growing up in the Chicago suburbs and while at Brown University, she was a competitive swimmer. She has competed at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championship Triathlon on two occasions and has been a member of the U.S. Triathlon team.
Dr. Lemke is a published author of review articles on pediatric orthopaedic topics including elbow fractures, congenital vertical talus, and spina bifida. She has been involved in basic science research during all of her education.
Dr. Lemke is board certified through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. She is a member of many organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. Dr. Lemke is a member of the medical staff at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, and Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
