Joint Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Morawski is a board-certified physician who specializes in orthopedic surgery and total joint replacement. He has been performing knee and hip replacements for over 25 years, and is the leading expert in anterior hip replacement, minimally invasive muscle sparing same day total knee replacement, and joint revision surgery in the Northwest suburbs.
Patient-oriented, comprehensive care is at the forefront of Dr. Morawski’s treatment plan. He uses a variety of nonsurgical treatment methods including activity modification, medication, physical therapy, bracing, injections and pain management. Biologics for treatment of arthritis including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell treatments are also used.
When surgery is necessary, patients can feel confident in a treatment and recovery plan that fits their individual needs. A pre-operative total joint replacement educational video is available to all patients, and it takes patients step-by-step through the surgical and recovery process.
For patients having hip surgery, Dr. Morawski uses a minimally invasive or muscle sparing hip arthroplasty technique where he is able to reduce damage to surrounding muscles and tendons. This technique often leads to faster recovery.
For patients having knee surgery, Dr. Morawski uses minimally invasive quadriceps sparing arthroplasty to allow patient to return home just hours after surgery. For patients having shoulder surgery, he performs both standard and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty if rotator cuff is incompetent.
Navigated/Computer-assisted Joint Replacement Surgery
To ensure proper alignment with pinpoint accuracy, Dr. Morawski uses image-guided navigation for knee joint replacements. The computer helps navigate the path of instruments in such a way that the new knee is fitted in the most optimum position. This advanced technology boasts a faster recovery time, and helps to improve the longevity of the knee implants.
