About Dr. Matteini
Spine Orthopedic Surgeon
A board-certified and fellowship-trained spine surgeon, Dr. Lauren Matteini specializes in the care and treatment of the whole spine – cervical, thoracic, and lumbar areas. Dr. Matteini treats conditions such as nerve impingement, disc herniation, and stenosis alongside more complex procedures to treat deformity, scoliosis, or spine issues requiring revision. Degenerative disc conditions are common in her practice, stemming from both injuries and age-related deterioration.
As a physician who prioritizes patient comfort & safety, Dr. Matteini specializes particularly in minimally invasive fusion techniques. Anterior and lateral approaches to the lumbar spine allow for a quicker recovery and reduced post-op discomfort. Dr. Matteini is also a recognized expert in the field of motion preservation in the neck, utilizing cervical disc arthroplasty or replacement for optimal results with reduced recovery time.
Dr. Matteini provides workers’ compensation Independent Medical Examinations (IME), and works closely with her patients and their care teams to return them to their normal activities even better than before.
Dr. Matteini performs highly advanced surgical procedures while collaborating with colleagues on non-surgical treatments where required. She also works closely with physical therapists for optimal recovery.
Throughout her professional career, Dr. Matteini has worked tirelessly for the advancement of spinal orthopedic treatments, with her findings published in various medical journals. When not in an exam room or surgical suite, you can often find Dr. Matteini mentoring other women starting out in medicine, regardless of specialty. Dr. Matteini stays active bicycling and spinning, doing yoga, and racing motorcycles. She’s never met a jigsaw puzzle she couldn’t complete and she also values spending time with family, friends, her dog Valentina, and her cat Rufus.
