Body Composition Analysis | DEXA Scan, IL

A Valuable Tool for Assessing Weight & Overall Health

Body composition analysis by DEXA is an accurate tool for assessing weight loss, nutrition, exercise, rehabilitation and overall health. Body fat percentage is superior to the currently accepted body mass index (BMI), as a measure of healthy weight. The results can help motivate and propel you in your journey.

What does a DEXA Scan Measure?

  • Weight Loss Tracking: Forget the scale, forget pinch tests. They give a small, often inaccurate, glimpse into your health and progress. A DEXA Body Composition Scan is a far superior way of tracking your weight loss progress. It shows what percent of your body is bone, muscle and fat. Gain insight on where the muscle in your body lies so you can correct imbalances and shift workouts to focus on areas that need improvement. An excellent resource for athletes, those trying to get in better shape, and anyone interested in learning more about their body’s balance.
  • Post-Surgical Progress: A broken bone that needs to be casted for a length of time can weaken the muscle. Surgeries such as a knee or shoulder replacement can make your body’s muscle mass uneven. Measure your physical therapy and post surgical progress with a DEXA Body Composition Scan. This test reveals whether your muscle re-growth is on track or if your muscle mass is larger on one side of your body versus the other.
  • Health Monitoring: Even if you are in excellent shape you may have a genetic predisposition to a higher level of fats surrounding your organs. This could be a pre-indicator for Diabetes Type 2. This simple scan is a comprehensive way to learn if you are at risk, empowering you to work with your doctor on methods to lower your risk.
