SPRING INTO THE BASEBALL SEASON…But don’t overplay your hand. Baseball injury prevention is partly about avoiding the pitfalls of overplay. With kids, overuse injuries can result in disease and growth-related disorders, as well as little leaguer’s elbow, swimmer’s shoulder, tennis elbow and/or stress fractures. For adults, well, weekend warrior-ism is often only fun until Monday morning finds you hobbling your painful way to work. With a little moderation, injury prevention can be as easy as one, two, three:

  1. Play a variety of positions.
  2. Avoid playing on multiple teams in the same season.
  3. Pitch every other day, not 2 or 3 days in a row.
